Tell me about yourself. Who you are and what you do?
I’m Jessa Jupiter Flux & I’m out of this world! Now imagine a shooting star! Ha! I’m
honestly just a performance artist at heart. Any time I can put on a show in front of
people, I take the chance.
Rather it’s acting, trained technique dancing, drag, burlesque, draglesque, or strip
clubbing it, I love it. But I love moving my body to create or embody a mood. I love to
manifest through my movement & I love to love my own body through movement.
Somewhat recently I started clowning & really want to go to this physical clowning school
called Dell’Arte in Blue Lake, CA. And I think this was my God’s calling. Lol. I was
actually just accepted, so now it’s just a matter of managing my money so I can afford to
take my ass out to Northern California in June to study with the artsy clowns
When did you start doing burlesque? How do you come up with your routines?
I actually started doing burlesque right after high school. I was obsessed with the
musical Gypsy all growing up & the neo-burlesque movement was booming at the time,
with Dita Von Tease being super popular at the time.
I also actually started the first burlesque troupe in my town too! No one remembers this
cause we technically only did one show, but we were called The Doll Faced Devils. We
did solos, singing numbers & choreographed group routines.
After that I was a part of two troupes that started after that in my town, The Drop Dead
Darlings, who I’ve recently rejoined, & also The Glitter Girls, who unfortunately
dismantled a few years ago.
I used to just be inspired by wanting to move to certain songs & that’s what inspired me.
But more recently I purposely try to choose instrumental or music with non-English
singing so that I can really differentiate my burlesque from my drag. I like my burlesque
to be classic & to tell a story if possible.
